About Rob

Hi, I’m Rob,

I’m a driving instructor based in Carlton and I also work in the Nottinghamshire boundary area of NG1-NG15. Oh, and I’m also a qualified counsellor.

That means I don’t just teach driving skills.

I support the person behind the wheel - I’m friendly, patient and down-to-earth. No ego, no shouting, no pressure; just genuine support, clear teaching and lessons that help you feel safe and confident.

My Story (How I Got Here)

When I was learning to drive, I was only taught how to pass the test. No one showed me how to understand road signs, theory, or how to read other drivers and situations. I passed, but I still felt anxious and unprepared. So I had to self-teach how to drive properly — and cope with the stress on my own.

That experience changed everything.

In 2004, I became a driving instructor and promised I would teach differently.

Over time, I noticed many learners weren’t struggling with the car - they were struggling with confidence, emotions, overwhelm or learning differences.

So in 2015, I trained as a person-centred counsellor, working with young people and adults.

Now I combine both worlds:

Driving expertise + emotional understanding = a safer, kinder way to learn.
